Times have changed since we were at school. If anything, school is more demanding in terms of study. It is more stressful for a growing child. External and internal pressures are mounting. Here is what Naeem Ali, a nine-year-old student, says about his experience at our school.
“I moved to GreenHouse Academy from another school. I came to realise at GA what I did not know. At the start, this made me worried. Maths to me was about writing numbers and filling up lots of pages in my notebook. I could not connect anything I knew with real life. I was used to copying words in my notebook and memorising pages in textbooks. I had no understanding of words in Urdu or English. In both languages, the phonics basics were unknown to me. With what I knew, I could not possibly try to read new or unfamiliar words or to solve any problems in Maths. My mind had lots of data but no data connected with each other or with anything else.
Things changed for me at GreenHouse Academy. The connection between learning and life came about. It all started to become fun. I was given my own Student Progress Plan to ensure I was certain in the foundation steps of each subject. Teachers gave me time in class, during break times and also after school. I took extra work at weekends. I realised I could think for myself and decide why or why not. My actions were up to me.
Now when I go to school, I feel my time is spent usefully in different classes. I am not just passing time. In this school I like teachers and I find interesting the many things I get to do at this school. I feel everybody loves me. I know I am here for a purpose. I am happy and I know GreenHouse Academy is the right place to meet that purpose.”
At GreenHouse Academy in Ghazi Goth, we don’t look just look at today. Our staff is trained and dedicated to creating values that build a better tomorrow. Every subject is important and impacts other subjects and our future. We currently have over 100 students in this poor locality coming to get their education with us. We would like your support to take on more students.
We are blessed to still be here, in spite of the severe pressures of the pandemic. Our priority since last year has been to serve students and parents throughout the lockdown so that their loss of education is minimised. Online lessons are not possible with these families, as the majority do not have the internet at home. But, through our combined efforts, home-schooling has continued throughout the lockdown period and is still doing so. We will continue to work through Ramazan and the summer holidays to minimise the loss of education. We need your support to pay staff and cover the cost of education of these children.
Our organisation is eligible for donations in the form of Zakat. We appreciate the funds given towards giving quality education to the most deserving. Please open your heart and give,
May Allah Bless you with wealth and multiply all your contributions many-fold.
Please help other students get the same opportunity of getting a quality education by donating to this education project. We need your support to help another 50 students. Thank you.
