The Global Situation Today
Today, at least 262 million children are out of school, most of them girls. Millions more who do attend school are not mastering the basics. There are 617 million children who cannot read or do basic maths.
Without high-quality Education for everyone, countries will fail in breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children and adults behind.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to disruption of learning on an unprecedented scale. The closure of schools and universities has affected the lives of 1.6 billion students in over 190 countries.
This is a global disaster in the making, and it is completely avoidable.
Education Transforms Lives
We need to make quality Education the basis of the recovery. This will fuel the transformation towards a more inclusive and sustainable society.
We need to deliver high-quality Education to achieve gender equality, to help protect our planet’s resources, to fight hate speech and intolerance, and to help create an awareness of global citizenship.
If all girls and boys completed their secondary Education, about 420 million people would be lifted out of poverty.
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as International Day of Education in celebration of the role of Education for peace and development.
But a proclamation is not action. We need to act on giving every child a quality Education now.
Education is a basic human right and a public responsibility. The world simply cannot afford a generation of children who lack the skills they need to live a productive and successful life.
We cannot afford to leave half of humanity behind.
The future of our children is in our hands, right here, right now.
At this very moment we are building a new School that provides a high-quality holistic Education to children of all ages in Karachi, Pakistan.
We have acquired the land and commissioned the architects. We need to begin construction of the building itself. All donations of any size, large or small, are more than welcome and deeply appreciated.
Contact us to be part of this worthwhile endeavour.
